These fabrics come from South Bengal, and are made by women through fairtrade.
These pieces are created from fabric we partnered with KanthaBae to receive. KanthaBae exists for this purpose: "Women survivors in West Bengal are taught to hand embroider beautiful sari cloth in the art of kantha, and are provided with a fair wage, an education and safe care for their children. We not only see beautiful products emerging from the discarded, we see broken lives being made whole, stitch by stitch."
We love that we have been able to work with them to get this fabric and help expand all that they are doing, while also expanding our global impact for orphan care. It is truly a win in all directions.
These shawls are 30x75, reversible, with pockets on both sides. This fabric is some of the softest I have ever felt and they have the most beautiful tassels hanging down. This piece could go over just about anything. Could be a great nursing cover, blanket, shawl, scarf, and so much more!!
